JrDP - Do you have a nickname or name your teammates call you?

JF - "Sunshine"

JrDP - How many years have you been playing baseball?

JF - I've been playing for 7 years.

JrDP - What position(s) do you play?

JF - Catcher, pitcher, third base and outfield

JrDP - At this stage of your career, what would you consider to be the strongest part of your game?

JF - I think my catching and hitting skills would be my strongest part.

JrDP - In what phase of the game do you need the most work?

JF - Pitching. I'm working hard on getting good control of all my pitches.

JrDP - Do you play any sports other than baseball?

JF - I play football and basketball for Simpsonville Rec.

JrDP - What do you think is the most exciting thing about playing baseball?

JF - Getting to play different positions, practicing and playing hard with my teammates.

JrDP - What has been your biggest achievement in baseball?

JF - I just started catching 2 years ago and to see where I'm at now to when I started proves that hard work pays off.

JrDP - What is your favorite Major League baseball team?

JF - Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays

JrDP - Who is your favorite Major League player?

JF - Joe Mauer

JrDP - Do you hope to play college baseball one day and if so, for whom?

JF - Yes that is my goal. I would like to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks or the Florida Gators.

JrDP - Do you have any relatives that played baseball in college or professionally?  Do you have any siblings that are currently playing?

JF - My cousin, Tony Firmstone, played 4 years for the University of Akron Zips.

JrDP - What do you like most about playing travel ball?

JF - Getting to play against top competition every time I step on the field.

JrDP - What team are you currently playing with?

JF - SC Bandits out of Spartanburg

JrDP - Who are some of the better teams you have played against?

JF - Leon Medical Center (Miami, Florida), Flower Mound Warriors (Dallas, Texas), SC Wolves, Carolina Scream, Simpsonville Longhorns

JrDP - Who are some of the better players you have played against?

JF - I played against so many it would be hard to name them all.

JrDP - What is the best park/facility that you have ever played in?

JF - Heritage Park in Simpsonville, SC.

JrDP - What grade are you in now?  What school do you attend now?  What high school will you eventually attend?

JF - I will be going into the 6th grade at Ralph Chandler Middle School. I will be attending Woodmont or Hillcrest High School.

JrDP - Who has been the greatest influence on you as a baseball player?

JF - My Mom and Dad, Randy Phillips, SC Bandit coaches, and Todd Burns.

JrDP - If you could participate in or attend any sporting event in the world, what would it be?

JF - I would love to play in or attend the College Baseball World Series.

JrDP - What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?

JF - Hanging out with my friends, playing video games and watching Pittsburgh Steeler football games with my family.

JrDP - What is your favorite TV show(s)?

JF - ESPN SportsCenter, MLB Network, Nitro Circus

JrDP - Favorite Movie(s)?

JF - Sandlot, Dark Knight, Remember the Titans

JrDP - Who are your favorite celebrities?

JF - Will Farrell, Jack Black, Michael Cera, Andy Samberg

JrDP - Favorite food(s)?

JF - Hamburgers, chicken wings and Primanti Brother sandwiches

JrDP - Least favorite food(s)?

JF - There isn't much I don't like.  I'm not a picky eater.

JrDP - Give a younger baseball player who is reading this article one piece of advice.

JF - Try your hardest, support your teammates and most of all, have fun playing.
